At The Cedars Academy, we want all pupils to ‘aspire to excellence’ and to reach their full potential.
Some pupils find some areas of the curriculum challenging and my team is here to support them from Year 7 to Year 13. We have a team of highly trained and dedicated Learning Support Assistants that work closely with SEND pupils to help them face and meet the challenges of the secondary curriculum. This support varies from intensive one to one support, in class support, mentoring or support from a variety of interventions that we run.
Interventions are an integral part of what we do at The Cedars and all of them are focused around helping to motivate, encourage and engage our learners in a variety of ways. Interventions offered range from additional literacy, additional numeracy to one to one mentoring. All of these programmes help to support pupils to improve self-confidence and self-esteem as well as improve key skills for life.
The SEND department is run by myself as SENCO/SALCO, 2 HLTAs and 11 Learning Support Assistants.
