English
Our Vision
In the English department at Cedars Academy our aim is to enrich our students with a broad range of exciting and challenging literature, the teaching of which is underpinned by factual knowledge. Through every unit and text taught we aim to make students independent readers, thoughtful writers and confident orators of their subject knowledge. We are a department of subject specialists who have all benefited from inspirational English teaching: an experience we strive to replicate for the students in our lessons.

At KS3, home learning is regularly set via Beehive, but we also encourage students to read regularly (a minimum of 10 minutes at day) to continue to develop their literacy skills. Students are able to borrow books from the school library (which is open before and after school, as a well as at breaks and lunchtimes); there are a wide variety of books on offer and our librarian is on hand to help guide students.
