Cedars’ Christmas Generosity Soars

Every year at The Cedars Academy, staff and students host an annual Christmas appeal in which they accentuate the importance of supporting the local community. 

Head of English Mr Rowe led an assembly highlighting how many individuals living in relative poverty are desperately in need of ‘common necessities’ this Christmas. 

Suitably inspired, students then started working together in their tutor groups to collate important items for the Birstall Food Bank; over several days they brought in an incredible quantity of food, including pasta, cereal, tinned food and much more. 

Such was the high level of response and contribution, students were able to fill the school’s minibus with their donations.  

The volunteers at the food bank were very grateful and passed on their thanks to everybody at Cedars who played an active role in supporting people through the Winter.
