Soring Cedars students celebrate amazing GCSE results

The Cedars Academy is thrilled to report another strong set of GCSE results this year.

173 of our students, undertook a wide variety of examinations and worked incredibly hard throughout the academic year. They applied themselves both in school and at home and their results were thoroughly merited, with a year-wide pass rate of 97.6%.

41% of our students averaged either a grade 5 or higher across all subjects studied. Whilst a remarkable 17 pupils obtained a grade 7 average across the subjects they took.

Three students were rewarded for their hard work and dedication with a clean sweep of grade 7s in at least 10 subjects! Whilst a further three pupils acquired all grade 8s and 9s!

Teachers and Support Staff were thrilled to see very strong progression in practical subjects such as Construction, Performing Arts, Fine Art, Design and Technology and Sports Studies. Thus, demonstrating our commitment to providing our students with a broad range of skills that they can take with them as they embark on their next steps.

Associate Principal, James Rolfe, was full of praise for Cedars’ students:

“We are incredibly proud of the resilience shown by our year 11 pupils this year as GCSE grading returns to pre-pandemic levels, and nationally there has a been a drop in GCSE attainment,” he said.

“This year's cohort, though, has matched our 2022 results and improved significantly on our 2019 performance.

“This is a remarkable achievement for a year group who suffered huge disruption during Covid, and their excellent results are a testament to their hard work and dedication, and to the efforts of our brilliant staff.

“We would like to wish our departing Year 11s the very best of luck in your future endeavours from all of us at The Cedars Academy.”
