Christina Flaherty

With support from The Cedars Academy, Christina discovered her strengths — now she’s thriving as a Police Analyst, turning insight into action.

Christina’s journey from The Cedars Academy to a career in law enforcement has been shaped by her interest in learning and a thoughtful approach to finding the right path. Her favourite subjects at school—English, Geography, and Psychology—helped guide her choices.

“I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but I believed English would open more doors,” Christina explains. That decision led her to study English at the University of Leicester, followed by a Master’s in Forensic Psychological Studies with the Open University.

Christina looks back on her time at Cedars with appreciation. “There were difficult times, but some of my best memories are from school. I liked the structure and had teachers who genuinely cared.”

While finishing her undergraduate degree, Christina began volunteering with the police. In 2017, she became a police officer, but had to step away from the role due to a medical diagnosis. She continued working in the field through civilian roles and further training, eventually moving into more specialist areas.

After four years in various administrative positions, Christina now works as an Analyst for Leicestershire Police. Her role involves reviewing incidents and identifying patterns to help inform operational decisions. “It’s the best job I’ve ever had,” she says. “No two days are the same, and I feel like I’m contributing to something important.”

Christina is proud of earning both her degrees, especially while managing personal challenges. She also sees her Autism diagnosis at age 28 as a key moment in understanding herself better. “It helped everything make more sense. I’m now 31 and feel confident in who I am.”

Her story shows how education, persistence, and self-awareness can lead to a fulfilling career—even when the path isn’t straightforward.
